Alabama Social Workers CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Alabama Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, NetCE is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit.
The Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ASWB approved. In addition NetCE is an approved provider through the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners, Provider #0515.
Continuing Education Requirement
NetCE is an approved provider through the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners, provider #0515.
LBSW, LMSW, LICSW, LICSW-PIP and LGSW are required 30 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by self-directed learning.*
All licensees are required a minimum of 3 hours in ethics every two years.
LMSWs with clinical designation are required 3 hours in clinical social work education every two years.
LICSWs Effective January 1, 2024, are required 6 hours in clinical social work education every two years, 3 of which must be a comprehensive review of the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.
All licensees are encouraged to complete mandatory one-time training in Child Abuse and Neglect for mandated reporters.
* NetCE courses are considered self-directed learning.
