Maryland Psychologists CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Maryland Psychologists
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.
The Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.
Continuing Education Requirement
Psychologists are required 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by independent study.*
Psychology Associates are required 20 hours every two years, 10 of which may be completed by independent study.*
Specific requirements every renewal period:
- Three (3) hours in laws pertaining to practice of psychology, ethics and professional conduct in the practice of psychology, or risk management;
- Three (3) hours in cultural diversity.
Supervising Psychologists are required three (3) hours every two years in clinical supervision.
For first renewal on or after 4/1/2022, all health care practitioners are required to complete an implicit bias training program, one-time only.
* NetCE courses are considered independent study.
