Continuing Education Requirement

Attention New York Healthcare Professionals: Every person who has previously undergone mandated child abuse training must complete an updated curriculum that includes adverse childhood experiences and trauma, implicit bias, and the identification of child abuse in a virtual setting. Training must be completed by April 1, 2025. Please access NetCE's approved updated training curriculum here.

MDs and DOs are required to complete course work or training in infection control at initial licensure and every four years thereafter. In addition, licensees must complete a one-time requirement of 2 hours in child abuse identification and reporting.

Licensees authorized to prescribe controlled substances are required to complete at least 3 hours in pain management, palliative care, and addiction by July 1, 2017, and every three years thereafter.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.

Please Note: NetCE does not report continuing education credit for New York healthcare professionals completing Infection Control or Child Abuse, although both of our courses are approved by the state.

For licensees completing our New York Child Abuse course, upon receiving credit we will issue you a Certificate of Completion on behalf of the New York State Education Department. You must upload this certificate to the state by accessing the following page https://www.op.nysed.gov/about/training-continuing-education/mandated-training-related-child-abuse, and clicking on either the link for applicants or current licensees.
