ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ADA or AGD approved.
Continuing Education
The Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners accepts NetCE courses.
Dentists are required 40 hours every two years, 20 hours of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of 4 hours must be in clinical infection control. There is a one-time requirement of 4 hours of bioterrorism required at initial renewal. On or after January 1, 2024, all dentists are required at least 2 hours one-time only related to the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment approach to substance use disorder within 2 years of initial licensure.
Dentists authorized or registered to dispense controlled substances are required to complete 2 hours of training every two years related to the misuse and abuse of controlled substances and the prescribing of opioids or addiction; or the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment approach to substance use disorder.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.
Dental Hygienists are required 30 hours every two years, 15 of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of 4 of the 30 hours must be in clinical infection control. There is a one-time requirement of 4 hours of bioterrorism required at initial renewal.
* NetCE courses are considered home study.
