ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The Indiana State Board of Dentistry accepts courses from any provider who is ADA or AGD approved.

Continuing Education

The Indiana State Board of Dentistry accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists are Required 20 hours every two years, 10 of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of 2 of the 20 hours must be in ethics, professional responsibility and Indiana statutes and administrative rules every two years. Effective July 1, 2019, all practitioners who apply for registration or reregistration for controlled substances must have completed 2 hours of continuing education during the previous two years addressing the topic of opioid prescribing and opioid abuse.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.

Dental Hygienists are required 19 hours every two years, 9.5 of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of 2 of the 19 hours must be in ethics, professional responsibility and Indiana statutes and administrative rules every two years.

*NetCE courses are considered home study.
