The Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ADA approved.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists are required 63 hours every three years, 21 of which may be completed by self-study.* A minimum of 3 of the 63 hours must be in opioid education, 3 hours must be in infectious diseases or infectious disease control, and 3 hours must be in ethics or Arizona dental jurisprudence every three years.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.

Dental Hygienists are required 45 hours every three years, 15 of which may be completed by self-study.* A minimum of 3 of the 45 hours must be in infectious diseases or infectious disease control, and at least 3 hours in one or more of the following areas: chemical dependency, tobacco cessation, ethics, risk management, or Arizona dental jurisprudence every three years

* NetCE courses are considered self-study.
