Massachusetts Counselors / Therapists

NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider NetCE has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6361. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NetCE is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professions accepts courses from any provider who is approved through NBCC for the continuing education requirements of Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC). The Board requires continuing education preapproval for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Rehabilitation Counselors (LRC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP).

Continuing Education Requirement

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professions accepts NetCE courses.

LMHC are required 30 hours every two years, 15 of which may be completed by home study.*

LMFT, LRC, and LEP are required 30 hours every two years, 15 of which may be completed by home study.**

All Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions licensees are required to participate in domestic violence and sexual violence training.***

Licensees are encouraged to obtain contact hours in the following areas as part of the total hours required for license renewal.

  • Three (3) contact hours in ethics.
  • Three (3) contact hours in anti-discrimination.
  • Three (3) contact hours in supervision for licensees who supervise clinical work of students, interns, or others.

* NetCE courses are considered home study.
** NetCE is not preapproved to offer continuing education to LMFT, LRC, or LEP.
